A nice, light summer read with an interesting concept。

Nidhi Sharma

One of the best fast-paced suspense thriller books I have read so far。

Heidi

Really liked the concept of a story told from the point of view of a protagonist with a memory disorder。

Vicki Papworth

Really good read

Helen

Had a bit of trouble believing the storyline。 I love the part about memories though

'I was born tomorrowToday I liveYesterday killed me'The book has an interesting plot - a woman with anterograde and retrograde amnesia - unable to retain new memories and unable to recollect memories from her past。 The book is first person prose of the woman and when you begin reading, you feel her atrocities and sympathize with her。 FOR A WHILE。 AND THAT'S THAT。 Every chapter has an incessant repetition of her waking up, not remembering she has amnesia, being reminded of this fact, rereading he 'I was born tomorrowToday I liveYesterday killed me'The book has an interesting plot - a woman with anterograde and retrograde amnesia - unable to retain new memories and unable to recollect memories from her past。 The book is first person prose of the woman and when you begin reading, you feel her atrocities and sympathize with her。 FOR A WHILE。 AND THAT'S THAT。 Every chapter has an incessant repetition of her waking up, not remembering she has amnesia, being reminded of this fact, rereading her diary to be reminded of what she remembered yesterday and CRY, EAT, SLEEP, REPEAT。 LITERALLY! After a while, I found myself speed reading through pages。 The writing is honestly quite banal。 The characters in the book are so few and with almost no depth that it becomes rather simple to assess where the book could lead to and you can see the climax of the book from quite a distance。 Not entirely happy with the read and believe the book could have been written a lot better。 。。。more

Just incredible。 I’ve said this in a lot of my reviews, but this is TRULY unlike anything I’ve read before。 S J Watson has managed to write a psychological thriller, without actually needing to include any action from the antagonist。 I felt a certain uneasiness the whole time reading this, not knowing how it was going to end for Christine - but this may be one of the best plot twists I’ve ever read。 Maybe I was naive to not realise what was going on, but in that last chapter it just clicked perf Just incredible。 I’ve said this in a lot of my reviews, but this is TRULY unlike anything I’ve read before。 S J Watson has managed to write a psychological thriller, without actually needing to include any action from the antagonist。 I felt a certain uneasiness the whole time reading this, not knowing how it was going to end for Christine - but this may be one of the best plot twists I’ve ever read。 Maybe I was naive to not realise what was going on, but in that last chapter it just clicked perfectly and I was gripped for the whole 116-page finale! 。。。more

This one was decent。 I enjoyed putting together the puzzle of MC's life as much as she did。 The big twist at the end was stupid and didn't make sense。 It would have been better if the guy who did that to her was actually her husband。 Then you wouldn't have to explain why some rando can leave with a mentally ill patient and no one says anything, why her husband divorced her for her own good and never bothered to call for 6 years to see how she is but oh wait now he ran back and he's in luuuurv wi This one was decent。 I enjoyed putting together the puzzle of MC's life as much as she did。 The big twist at the end was stupid and didn't make sense。 It would have been better if the guy who did that to her was actually her husband。 Then you wouldn't have to explain why some rando can leave with a mentally ill patient and no one says anything, why her husband divorced her for her own good and never bothered to call for 6 years to see how she is but oh wait now he ran back and he's in luuuurv with her, why her son never called the asylum to see how she is even though he was so upset his father divorced her that he doesn't speak to him。 。。。more

It's not fair for me to rate this book since I didn't finish it。 Oh, I tried。 And I tried again。 And again。 Then I tried one more time。 But I gave up and hid it in the back of my closet and forgot about it。 Until I didn't and tried again。 That's the last time。 It's on my "donate to the used bookstore" pile。 And I never take a book off that once it's on it。 I'm pretty sure I won't forget that rule。 PS。 I got a job a year ago working with persons who have traumatic brain injuries。 So far, never ha It's not fair for me to rate this book since I didn't finish it。 Oh, I tried。 And I tried again。 And again。 Then I tried one more time。 But I gave up and hid it in the back of my closet and forgot about it。 Until I didn't and tried again。 That's the last time。 It's on my "donate to the used bookstore" pile。 And I never take a book off that once it's on it。 I'm pretty sure I won't forget that rule。 PS。 I got a job a year ago working with persons who have traumatic brain injuries。 So far, never have I ever。。。。but I guess there is always a first time because each one is different。 。。。more

I want to love this book so much。 It's got a great concept, but the execution really left something to be desired for me, especially as the book dragged on。 I guessed the ending about half way through, desperately hoping that it would be as shocking as some reviews implied, but was disappointed to learn that it was truly that predictable。 Regardless, I enjoyed the bulk of my reading, and Watson builds the tension very well, even if I found the big reveal to be so anticlimactic。 3 (2。75?) stars。 I want to love this book so much。 It's got a great concept, but the execution really left something to be desired for me, especially as the book dragged on。 I guessed the ending about half way through, desperately hoping that it would be as shocking as some reviews implied, but was disappointed to learn that it was truly that predictable。 Regardless, I enjoyed the bulk of my reading, and Watson builds the tension very well, even if I found the big reveal to be so anticlimactic。 3 (2。75?) stars。 。。。more

A strong 3。5 stars。 This book had me hooked from the beginning, you wanted to just keep reading to find out what the heck was going on with this poor women。 Think of the movie 50 First Dates but dark with no comedy。 This was a thoroughly engaging story。。。 the ending was satisfying, it kept me up past my normal bed time because I just had to finish it。。。。 one small part of the ending felt Disney like 。。。 🤴

Would give 4。5 if I could, I really enjoyed the mystery and the narrative。 I read the last half of the book in one sitting。 I would definitely recommend it。 The reason my actual review is a 4。5 and not a 5 is I felt the "big reveal" was a tad unbelievable。 I also became annoyed at how often the writer described the main characters breasts。 I knew immediately that the book was written by a male, haha。 That being said the rest of the writing was amazing and I would certainly read more by this auth Would give 4。5 if I could, I really enjoyed the mystery and the narrative。 I read the last half of the book in one sitting。 I would definitely recommend it。 The reason my actual review is a 4。5 and not a 5 is I felt the "big reveal" was a tad unbelievable。 I also became annoyed at how often the writer described the main characters breasts。 I knew immediately that the book was written by a male, haha。 That being said the rest of the writing was amazing and I would certainly read more by this author。 。。。more

Amber Smith

So。 Good。 I was had。 I done got tricked。 And I loved it。
